I don’t normally do stuff like this, but my parents set up a GoFundMe in light of recent events that are making things rough.
As some of you may know, I helped my parents put a down payment down on a historic home in Georgia last year. 5k, on a 15k home. The catch? They agreed to restore the home to it’s historic exterior within two years.
They, which entails my parents, older sister, her three year old, a close friend if the family, as well as my two youngest brothers, have been renting a three bedroom house next to the property in order to keep watch on it (as it was formerly abandon for 30+ years, it attracted vandals hoping to strip it of historic woodwork and the likes), and be close enough to work on it constantly. They have been paying it’s mortgage, along with rent and bills on the rental, while trying to get things done on the home.
Last week, a bit of a wrench for finances and living space hit them: my parents took in my two nieces and my nephew, due to their mother (my sister) being unable to provide for them. It has pushed the number of people in the little rental to nine, and they desperately need to get the house livable so that they can move into it instead of being cramped in the rental. All they need to do to get it livable is put in two of the bathrooms, get the electricity run, and put in a temporary kitchen.
But they need the funds for the material, my family is made up of functional architects, so we are able to do all the labor on our own, but we desperately need to wrangle up the supplies- and it’s been hard to do much more than a tidbit at a time with them paying for both the historic home, as well as the rental and it’s bills. It’s not coming along fast enough, unfortunately.
If you could signal boost it, it would be very, very appreciated!
